Course Description:
Students study literature, writing, informational text, speaking and listening and language with an emphasis on reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary development and the writing process. Students study a wide variety of genres, including short stories, nonfiction, poetry, drama, epic and myth, and consumer and workplace documents. Outside reading and writing, quarterly book projects, and formal essay writing are required. This course will focus on textual evidence, writing in an objective tone and composing argumentative and informative essays.

Course Description:
Students use higher level thinking skills to analyze and respond to a wide variety of genres, including short stories, nonfiction, poetry, drama, epic and myth, and consumer and workplace documents. Students will study literature and composition with an emphasis on literature appreciation and analysis, vocabulary development, oral fluency, and writing development. Outside reading and writing, quarterly book projects and formal writing assignments are required. Students will be required to complete summer reading and writing projects that will be due the first day of class. This class is recommended as preparation for English 10 Plus.
This class will be weighted 0.05.
Google Classroom

Each student will receive a Google account and will be assigned to an English 9 class. All assignments and handouts will be posted to Classroom. Students can access this information on any device with internet, at any time. Students will be able to complete assignments, submit assignments, view feedback and their grade all on Classroom.
